What type of guitar can be used for the most styles of playing?

I've heard Steinberger and Godin are good for pretty much everything. Also the Semi-Hollow Telecaster seemed like a versatile guitar. I just need something that can be used for anything, and can resemble the sound of an acoustic guitar either by being semi-hollow or a piezo pickup and whatnot.
