How do I train my lovebird to "step-up"?

Hello everyone. I just got a 6 week-old lovebird today. I would like to know one of the best methods to train my new bird to step-up onto my finger. I know that I need to leave him alone for several days; then I will begin to train him. Answers would be greatly appreciated.
