To Christians. What do you think will happen to people who have been driven away from religion?

I am asking this question because over the years I have met some folks paricularily some gay men and women who have rejected religion (ESP. Christianity) because of the harsh treatment and attitudes towards them from time to time. Also the same can be said for the racsist beliefs that was justified by misinterpreting the bible.
