Can somebody tell me what group the ancient egyptians came from?

The Egyptians were Hamitic. If you look at sculptures from the Old Kingdom Period, they have Nubian features, which are of African (Hamitic) origin. One group the Hyksos, invaded Egypt and ruled for a few hundred years and the Hyksos were Semitic (from Ham) but the native Egyptians were descendants of Ham. The current inhabitants are Arab and therefore Semitic, but they are not the descendants of the ancient Egyptians.
